A Day at Perlas ng Silang: My Honest Thoughts · Kat&Beyond

I visited Perlas ng Silang back in December 2024. This blog is long overdue, but I’ve been meaning to share my experience. Before anything else, I want to make it clear that this is purely based on my personal visit. Your experience might be different from mine, so keep that in mind.

The Entrance and Dining Experience

When we arrived in December 2024, the first thing I noticed was the crowd at the entrance. It turns out there was an entrance fee you needed to pay before accessing the actual garden. However, if you dine in and spend at least ₱2,500, the entrance fee is waived. Since we were there for lunch, that wasn’t an issue for us. Please keep in mind, this was the case during my visit, and I’m not sure if it’s still the same now.

Perlas ng Silang Food Experience

We headed straight to the dining area, and I’ll start with my thoughts on the food. We ordered crispy noodles, lumpiang shanghai, kare-kare, and bagoong rice to go with the kare-kare. The food was okay – nothing special – and a bit on the pricey side. But that wasn’t really the highlight of our meal.

Halfway through eating, I noticed something unexpected – a headless bug in my food. I panicked a little and started searching for the head 😂. Turns out, it was still there, complete with antennas. Now, I completely understand that it’s a garden setup, and with all the plants around, bugs are bound to be present. The funny thing is, I had never seen that type of bug before.

A Day at Perlas ng Silang: Bug on a Plate · Kat&Beyond

I calmly called a server and asked to speak with the supervisor. I just wanted to let them know that bugs might be flying into the kitchen and landing in the food. It wasn’t a fly, and while I know that’s still unsanitary, at least it wasn’t one of those super dirty ones.

The supervisor replaced the crispy noodle dish right away and even offered a complimentary iced tea for the weird situation. That was a nice gesture on their part.

One thing I did appreciate was the dining area – it was full of plants, giving off a jungle-like vibe. That was actually pretty nice. If only the food had matched the ambiance, the experience would have been much better.

Overall, the food was edible but nothing memorable. Would I go back to dine there again? Honestly, I’m not so sure.

Perlas ng Silang Menu: What’s Cooking

During our visit in December 2024, I took some photos of their menu while we were dining in. I’m sharing them here so you can check out their offerings ahead of time and plan your visit accordingly. Keep in mind that prices or menu items may have changed since then, but this should still give you a good idea of what to expect!

Perlas ng Silang Garden Ambiance

Now, let’s talk about the garden. Without a doubt, it was well-maintained. The flowers were impressive, even though I could only admire them from afar. Unfortunately, it was raining that day, making everything muddy. Thankfully, there was a faucet nearby where I could wash my feet, and I was wearing rubber slippers, so it wasn’t too bad.

Overall Impression

Perlas ng Silang has a beautiful setting, but my experience was a mix of good and not-so-good moments. The garden itself was lovely, and the staff handled the food issue well. However, the food didn’t leave a lasting impression.

Would I recommend it? If you’re after a nature-filled spot to relax, then yes. But if you’re visiting mainly for the food, manage your expectations. Again, this is just my personal opinion based on my visit – your experience might be different.
