We all know the thrill of chasing a big sale. The idea of finally buying something you’ve been wanting for years, at a fraction of the cost, is hard to resist. But sometimes the reality of the event doesn’t match the picture you had in mind. What looks exciting online can turn into a test of patience once you’re actually there.
That was exactly my experience at the Digital Walker sale in PARQAL. I went in with clear intentions, prepared to grab a deal I thought was within reach. Instead, I walked into a mix of excitement, stress, and a little disappointment. The whole day turned into something I didn’t expect at all.
Chasing the Marshall Dream at the Digital Walker Sale
Last September 13, I went to PARQAL for the Digital Walker sale. I only wanted one thing, the Marshall bluetooth speakers. I have been eyeing them since 2015, but the price always felt out of reach. The Stockwell model usually costs ₱14,000 (about $240), and during the sale it dropped to ₱4,000 (about $69). That was the deal I had been waiting for.

I arrived around 10:15 AM, expecting the event to start when the mall opened. Parking was fine, but finding the venue took another 15 minutes. By the time I got there, the line was already ridiculous!

They were letting people in groups of 20. I finally got inside at 11:11 AM. I rushed to ask staff about the Marshall speakers, only to learn the Stockwell was gone. All that was left was the Emberton II, priced at ₱9,990 (about $171) but marked down to ₱6,990 (about $120). A discount, sure, but nothing like the Stockwell’s price cut. Still, I grabbed one, because options were running out fast.

The Waiting Game at the Cashier Line
That’s when the nightmare really started. The cashier line stretched all the way back to the entrance. I I figured I had time, so I looked around. Along the way, I found a few useful things, like travel adapters and a travel SIM holder. Nothing unnecessary made it into my bag, because when I shop sales, the focus is on what I’ll actually pay, not what I’ll “save.”But honestly, I’m a gadget hoarder at heart, and resisting was hard.

By 12:06 PM, I joined the line. I didn’t get out until 2:07 PM. That’s two hours of standing, with no chairs, no water, and no food. What made it worse was watching some “influencers” skip the line while the rest of us waited. If the organizers had added more cashiers or found a way to move payments faster, it could have made the experience far less draining. By the time I drove back home, I was starving since I hadn’t eaten lunch until 3 PM after only having a light breakfast.
Mixed Feelings About the Digital Walker Sale
Was it worth it? Honestly, I don’t know. I finally bought a Marshall speaker after wanting one for nearly a decade, but the model wasn’t the one I had dreamed about. The Emberton II works fine, but I didn’t stand in line for four hours just to settle for a “fine” deal. That day drained me completely.

Later, while scrolling through TikTok, I saw plenty of others share the same frustrations. People called out the endless lines, the unfair influencer treatment, and the prices that failed to match the hype of “up to 90% off.” Seeing others share the same struggles reminded me that the issues weren’t just in my head, and the event clearly needed better planning.
Will I go again if Digital Walker hosts another sale? Maybe. It depends on what they offer. But one thing is certain, next time I’ll think twice before standing in line for hours just to leave tired, hungry, and holding something that wasn’t really what I wanted.
