Fun, competitive multiplayer games are everywhere. But one of the serious barriers that keep many people from becoming truly great at certain games is the lack of hardware. Let’s face it: a bad graphics card, lack of RAM, and slow processor will always get in the way. No matter how skilled you are, you still need the equipment to help you out. However, a gaming PC is often be quite bulky!

The ROG Strix SCAR 2022: Sleek Design, Solid Display

One immediate feature that’ll catch your eye is the RGB lighting strip at the bottom of the laptop. This nifty glow has a very “gamer” aesthetic when seen with the main chassis. Part of it is translucent, so you can have a peek into the laptop’s inner workings. Note that it doesn’t have its own webcam. This isn’t a dealbreaker for me, but some people may need it for online meetings or streaming.

This laptop comes with its own armor caps and has two replacements. However, you can 3D print your own for added customization. The ROG Strix Scar’s display options are pretty good too. With options like 240Hz 1440p and 300Hz 1080p, you’ll be able to play games with crisp, clear graphics. It’s not the best screen, but it’s stunning enough to let you game and chat or type at the same time.

Power-Hungry, But Strong In Terms Of Processing

When it comes to processors, the ASUS Strix Scar 15 is no slouch. Packing a 14-core Intel Core i9 12900H, it boasts Intel’s most powerful mobile processor to date. This hybrid core design has a total of 14 cores that go up to 5.0GHz. This makes it outperform many other gaming laptops and handle multiple tasks with ease.

For the full gaming experience, I found it was worth it to spring for the NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti graphics card. Many online playthroughs are ruined when image rendering is too slow or clunky. But with this graphics card, you can run the latest games at their best image quality. It’s also a godsend for image rendering, video editing, and watching high-res vids!

A small gripe I do have is that you’ll need to charge it more often. With a battery life that ranges around 6 to 8 hours, your use of this laptop will be limited without a power outlet. Still, it’s a small price to pay for such a powerful, portable device!

ROG STRIX SCAR 2022 Verdict: Excellent Value For Money

If you’ve been looking for a gaming laptop that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, this is it. The ROG Strix SCAR 15 2022 combines unique design with a strong hybrid core, SSD, and RAM. The display may not be the best, but it’s more than enough for high framerates while playing.
