The SciENSE – Science Through Sense at Clark Cityfront Mall has been popping up everywhere on social media. Intrigued, I decided to visit and see what the buzz was about. Here’s my honest review of the experience.
Arriving at the Venue
The museum is located inside Clark Cityfront Mall, right across from SM City Clark. The mall itself is relatively new, with most shops still unopened. Its horizontal layout stretches across five towers, requiring some walking. Despite this, the space feels airy, with good ventilation and a pleasant atmosphere.
Parking was easy, as the area wasn’t crowded. I parked in Tower 3 and walked to Tower 1, where the museum is located.
One surprising hiccup was that the museum actually opens at 12 noon, despite advertisements stating 10 AM. We discovered this upon arrival and decided to wait.
The food hall in the mall had only one Korean restaurant open at the time, which we tried. There might be more options tucked away elsewhere, but all we saw were small kiosks aside from the Korean restaurant. The food was decent, making the wait more manageable.
SciENSE Museum at Clark City Ticket Prices and Activities
We were charged ₱650 per person, which appeared to be a special promo rate for the day. Standard rates are as follows:
- Walk-in rate: ₱899 (instead of ₱1,500)
- Student rate: ₱750 (instead of ₱1,200)
- PWD / Senior Rate ₱750 (instead of ₱1,200)
- Foreign Guest Rate US$ 35 (instead of $50)
The ticket grants two-hour access to the museum. However, some activities require additional fees.
The SciENSE – Science Through Sense Museum at Clark features interactive spaces designed to be both fun and educational. One section allows visitors to decorate baked goods, while another lets them create their own personal care items, like perfumes. A dedicated art area provides kids with coloring activities. These hands-on experiences are great additions but come at an extra cost, so it’s wise to plan your visit accordingly.
Exploring the Museum
Upon entering the museum, we were informed during a small orientation that if anything is broken, there’s a damage fee starting at ₱5,000. While it wasn’t explicitly stated on signage, it’s a good reminder to keep an eye on kids in areas with fragile displays.
The SciENSE – Science Through Sense Museum at Clark is divided into seven sections, each offering a mix of exhibits, sculptures, and creative spaces. The entrance features dinosaur sculptures and an activity area, which immediately captures attention.
One room with a space theme features a ball pit, glowing lights, and a floating inflatable astronaut. While visually creative, it felt disconnected from the educational theme.
My first thought upon entering was, “All we need is a DJ!” That room, with its dark ambiance and vibrant lights, would be perfect for a rave party. A humorous highlight came when a child pointed out, “There are no balls in space!” It gave me a laugh, but it also made me question the cohesiveness of the display.
While the exhibits were visually impressive and great for photo opportunities, I noticed that kids weren’t particularly drawn to reading the educational content on the walls. Most gravitated toward the interactive sections instead.
Final Thoughts on SciENSE – Science Through Sense Museum
SciENSE – Science Through Sense Museum offers a unique blend of science, creativity, and interactive exhibits. The space is visually impressive, with areas designed to spark curiosity and creativity. It certainly has potential, especially for children, with hands-on activities like baking and crafting.
While the exhibits are designed with younger audiences in mind, not all activities may hold their attention for long periods. The educational elements, such as the informative displays on the walls, seem to get overshadowed by the more interactive spaces, like the ball pit. For younger kids, these hands-on sections may provide the most enjoyment, but for those looking for deeper engagement, the experience may feel a bit lacking.
If you’re planning a visit, I recommend adjusting your expectations based on who you’re visiting with. For children, especially those under 10, SciENSE may offer an enjoyable, playful learning experience. However, if you’re expecting more in-depth science education or a completely engaging experience for all ages, it may not fully meet those expectations.
Ultimately, SciENSE – Science Through Sense Museum at Clark City Front Mall is a fun spot for quick visits, photo ops, and creative play. If you’re looking for something low-key and visually engaging, it’s worth checking out. Just keep in mind that it’s primarily tailored to kids, and some areas might not be as captivating for adults.
